Miriam Alvarez, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC
Miriam Alvarez, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC, is a compassionate and dedicated Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner with over eight years of experience in providing acute care, wellness exams, and chronic disease management for diverse populations. She currently serves as both a Family Nurse Practitioner and an Associate Professor/Clinical Nursing Instructor, blending clinical expertise with a passion for education.
Miriam began her career as a Medical Doctor in Cuba, earning her Family Medicine Specialty in 1993. She later transitioned into epidemiology, obtaining her Master’s in Epidemiology from the Pedro Kouri Tropical Medicine Institute in 2000. Her journey into nursing began after moving to the United States, where she pursued degrees in nursing, including an Associate and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Sacred Heart University. In 2014, she earned her MSN-FNP from Turabo University, further expanding her qualifications with a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Healthcare System Leadership from Miami Regional University in 2022.
In her current role at Regions Praxis Care Corp , Miriam focuses on providing patient-centered care, where she combines her diagnostic skills and comprehensive knowledge of chronic disease management with a commitment to health education and psychiatrist services . She is particularly passionate about promoting sustainable wellness habits to prevent mental illness and empowering patients to take control of their health.
Miriam’s extensive experience spans working in multicultural environments, enhancing her ability to connect with patients from various backgrounds. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she excels at patient communication, utilizing empathy and evidence-based care to improve outcomes. Throughout her career, Miriam has emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, working closely with healthcare providers to develop and implement holistic care approaches.
In addition to her clinical work, Miriam is an Associate Professor at Miami Regional University, where she mentors nursing students, providing hands-on instruction in clinical settings.
